Brennan’s of Houston Welcomes Back Joe Cervantez as New Executive Chef, Starting June 4, 2017
On June 4, Joe Cervantez will rejoin Brennan’s of Houston kitchen as Executive Chef, marking his return to the landmark restaurant institution after two years. Cervantez served as sous chef from 2010-2014 before helming Killen’s Steakhouse as the Executive Chef.
“We are thrilled to welcome Joe back to the Brennan’s of Houston family,” says Proprietor Alex Brennan-Martin. “Joe is one of the most talented and resourceful young chefs I’ve had the pleasure of working with in my years in the restaurant business, and on behalf of Carl Walker, Chef Jose Arevalo, Chef Martin Weaver and the rest of the team, we are ecstatic that Joe will be returning to the kitchen next month.”
In true Brennan’s of Houston fashion, Cervantez will be “stained in Commander’s blue” (says Carl Walker) as he undergoes hands-on training with James Beard Award-Winning Chef Tory McPhail of Commander’s Palace before rejoining the Brennan’s team next month.
"Brennan’s of Houston has always felt like home to me and I look forward to what’s to come in this new role,” says Cervantez. “I have watched Ella Brennan's ‘Commanding the Table’ documentary three times now, and each time I get more excited.”
